When you do find that person... you should stay by their side. Even if it's painful sometimes. As long as you're with them... I'm sure you won't regret it.
...naturally I'd want to try and work it out. It would be disrespectful to walk away without even trying-- if the relationship was that important to me then of course I'd want to protect it.
But I know that realistically not everyone would accept sharing that sort of relationship with others.
If it came to that... and there was no other way... I would want that person to be happy-- even if what made them happy was choosing someone else.
I guess that's an acceptable answer... Just don't forget, by existing, especially in a place like this, it's probably unavoidable if you hurt some people.
It's fine to try to avoid hurting others' feelings, but make sure you consider your own, too.
